Namaste,

Hi, I’m Avanthi Kamat  -  a 3D Environment and Lighting Artist with a deep love for visual storytelling, shaped by the vibrant, cinematic world I grew up in.

Born and raised in India, I was always surrounded by stories—on film, on the streets, and in the everyday rhythm of color, texture, and space. While I initially explored the world of science—studying physics, chemistry, and computer science, my heart pulled me toward design. That shift led me to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Design from NIFT Bangalore, where I built a strong foundation in visual thinking, composition, and creative problem-solving.

I recently graduated with an MFA in Animation from SCAD, where I directed my thesis film Niyati and focused on 3D environment design, lighting, and texturing for real-time workflows. My creative approach is rooted in building atmospheric, story-driven spaces; environments that don’t just look good, but feel lived in. Whether I’m sculpting a quiet corner of a forgotten museum or using lighting to guide narrative beats, I’m always thinking about the story space can tell.

I’m proficient in tools like Unreal Engine, Maya, Houdini, Nuke, and Substance Painter, and I’ve had the chance to mentor others in texturing and visual development. My work spans student films, design leadership roles, and

hands-on environment builds, and I’m always eager to learn, collaborate, and grow with teams who value thoughtful worldbuilding and strong visual direction. When I’m not designing, you’ll probably find me rewatching old films, building color palettes from street corners, or imagining how a quiet object could shape an entire story.

If you’re looking for a curious, committed environment artist with a passion for cinematic storytelling and a learner’s mindset, I’d love to connect.
